Why Handmade?

In theory, we all know that there are great benefits of handmade. Whether we are buying from  local artists or supporting crafters we are giving back to people who have a passion for the unique skills they possess. Have you ever thought about the advantages of buying handmade? And who gets what out of each transaction?

 

Most handmade products do not require a factory or large production facility.  Instead, nearly all are made in small craft studios and workshops, the transformed shed at the bottom of the garden, or people’s own homes.

 

Unlike gifts or products that are mass-produced, you will often find unique differences in each handmade item, which really makes the product and the purchase special. Nobody in the whole world will have the same item!

 

Most handmade items are made to last.  They are made from a material that will withstand the time and the changes are that you are going to keep them for a long time. When you buy handmade you become part of the story and journey!

By supporting your local artisan you are also supporting the craft skill they practise. By supporting the traditional crafts, such as embroidery, Kashigari, clay artist, weavers or many others, we are helping them to pass the skills to the next generation and keep the art and craft alive.

In essence, handmade is a celebration of our contemporary lives and our living culture.Each handmade item is about people and not machines.
