Herbal remedies have been popular for centuries. With a holistic approach to health, herbal medicine addresses the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of an individual .As we are getting towards the end of lockdown and adapting to the new norms, trying a more holistic approach for common ailments could be surprisingly beneficial without  the side effects.  In South East Asia, spices and herbs are interwoven into daily life through the cuisine, cultural and healing traditions.We wanted to share with you a few herbal remedies, which we have found particularly useful.

 

 

 

Natural Herbal Remedies

Cinnamon - extract has been used to alleviate gastrointestinal problems in both Eastern and Western medicine for years. To alleviate digestive symptoms, cinnamon is taken as part of a hot drink (much like a tea). You can sprinkle it on your toast or over your breakfast oats!

Natural Herbal Remedies

Ginger - is one of the very few superfoods actually worthy of that term. It may help relieve the pain and relax the muscles. At the same time, it can help strengthen your immunity due to the high levels of antioxidants and has calming properties that may help lower your stress and tension. Try this delicious ginger tea, ever so calming and relaxing. 

Heat the ginger, lemon rind, water and honey to a boil in small pot. Add lemon juice to hot water, strain and pour into your favourite mug!

Turmeric - this spice is interwoven into daily life in South East Asia, the cuisine, and cultural and healing traditions.  

Turmeric lattes, ice cream and smoothies are extremely popular as people are adopting a more holistic approach to their lifestyle.

Natural Herbal Remedies

Cloves - known for its ant inflammatory properties. Have a toothache? Put a couple of whole cloves in your mouth. Let them soften a bit, then bite on them gently with good molars to release their oil. Then move them next to the painful tooth and keep them there for up to half an hour.

Nature has provided humans with a colossal treasure of herbal plants which we can benefit from.  We hope these simple remedies make a difference to your day and prove beneficial as they did for us.
