5 Ways to Keep a Positive Vibe

We love this kindness quote from Lao Tzu. With World Kindness Day coming up in November, here at Ishq we thought we would provide 5 tips to keeping a positive vibe.

  1. Be more grateful. Gratitude is an understated tool that we can utilise to improve our well being and maintain a positive vibe. Studies show that a single thoughtful appreciation leads to an immediate 10% increase in happiness (1). How do you practise gratitude? Be kind to yourself; practising self-care with positive affirmations and self-talk will build your self-worth and influence your subconscious mind. 

  2. Do something nice for a stranger. The positive energy you project into this world is what you get back. We encourage you to be more generous and perform random acts of kindness; when was the last time you surprised your friends with a gift? Give compliments and acknowledge the loved ones around you. When someone cleans the office where you work, send them a gift card for their favourite restaurant or include some chocolates in their next paycheck. 

  3. Surround yourself with happy people. This is a great tip because it's simple and easy, and you can do it right away. When you're around positive people, they're likely to make you feel more positive yourself, which in turn leads to better vibes overall. On the other hand, when you're around negative people all the time who complain or criticize others without reason, then those feelings will rub off on your own mood as well.

  4. Live in the moment. Try turning your phone off when you’re with your loved ones. Meditate and appreciate your surroundings and take note of the small joys in life. Cherish the good moments and let the positive vibes flow.

  5. Be kind to yourself. If a day has been stressful, don’t beat yourself up over it. Instead, do something nice for yourself such as taking a bath or going for a walk around the block. Take time to relax and have fun with the little things in life that make you happy. Give yourself a break from the daily grind by taking time off from work once in a while or setting regular “me” days on your calendar where you spend quality time doing something that makes your heart sing instead of working on tasks related to your career or personal life. Let yourself think negative when you need to. These emotions allow us to communicate to others and motivate us to take action. 


The best way to start having more positive vibes is by learning to appreciate yourself. Remember that you are loved and surround yourself with happy people. Also, be kind to yourself by doing something nice for a stranger or even thanking them for being there for you when you needed help!
